Tea Party Planning Consultation
One hour with me, one-on-one — $97
Most people don't get stuck on whether to host an afternoon tea. They get stuck on the details nobody tells you: how many tea sandwiches per person, what actually goes on a three-tier stand, how early you can make things without them going soggy, and how to keep the whole thing from costing more than it should.
I'm Kei — a Paris-trained pastry chef and the founder of Sugarbird Sweets & Teas in Los Angeles. For twelve years I've catered afternoon tea parties from six-person birthdays to fifty-guest garden events, for brides, new mothers, corporate clients and friends who just wanted one perfect afternoon.
In sixty minutes, we plan yours.
What we'll work through on the call:
Your menu — savories, scones and sweets, built around your guest count, your budget and how much cooking you actually want to do
Quantities — exactly how many tea sandwiches, scones and desserts to make, so nobody leaves hungry and you don't throw food away
Your timeline — what to do two weeks out, two days out, and the morning of, so you're not assembling anything at 6am
Styling and table setup — tiered stands, florals, photo zones, and how to make a table look considered rather than assembled
Your budget — where the money genuinely shows up in photographs, and where it doesn't
Dietary needs — vegan, gluten-free and allergy-aware options that don't feel like an afterthought
This call is for you if you're planning: a bridal shower tea party, a baby shower, a birthday afternoon tea, a garden party, a Mother's Day tea, a retirement or engagement celebration — at home or at a venue, for six guests or fifty.
How it works: book a time, tell me your date, your guest count and a little about your space. We meet by video or phone for one hour and build the plan together. You leave with your menu, your numbers and your timeline decided.
Availability: weekdays, 8:30am–5:30pm PT. I keep a small number of these open each month.

FAQ’s:
How many tea sandwiches do I need per person? It depends on the time of day, and this is the single most common mistake. A tea party between 12pm and 3pm is replacing your guests' lunch — plan four pieces per person. Between 2pm and 4pm, three. After 4pm, when it's genuinely a snack, two. We'll do the exact math for your guest count on the call.
How far in advance should I plan an afternoon tea party? Two weeks is comfortable. Forty-eight hours is survivable if you're organized about it. Either way, most of the work happens before the day itself.
Do you plan tea parties outside Los Angeles? The consultation is by video or phone, so I work with hosts anywhere. Sugarbird's scone and catering delivery is Los Angeles-based.
Can you cater my tea party instead? Yes — Sugarbird caters afternoon tea across Los Angeles, from scones and clotted cream to fully styled and staffed events. We can talk about that on the call if you'd rather hand some of it over.
What if I already bought the Tea Party Playbook? Even better. You'll have the system already — we'll spend the hour on the parts specific to your party rather than the fundamentals.
