How to assemble your afternoon tea set!

It’s been a crazy year for us. Knock on wood, our team’s been operating non-stop, safe and healthy. We feverishly worked together, turning into an afternoon tea company overnight from a wholesale bakery and caterer. The best part of this adventure is being able to connect folks via zoom or whatever your virtual set up maybe, it’s been really great to be a part of your tea time. Hope it gave some of you a moment of normalcy to enjoy time spent assembling, warming up scones, and placing the tea sandwiches on the various tiers while sipping on some of your favorite Sugarbird Tea.

It’s been a rough journey to make this service as smooth as possible for all. To be honest, we never knew it would grow as it did these past months. We needed to pivot and thanks to help of folks like you who requested our services, you gave us an opportunity to jump off that cliff and find a way to get them delivered to you. With a huge help from our digital marketer, we are able provide you with holiday themed afternoon tea sets and will continue to offer them for years to come.

Thank you for having Sugarbird a part of your tea time. We love to hear from you.

In the meantime, if you need ideas on setting up your tea time from us, please take a moment to check out this video, (edited and shot by my partner + husband, James Okumura).

How to bake your frozen scones at home

Did someone just send you frozen scones ?

Or you used to buy our scones at the farmer’s markets and since we haven’t been back on Sundays, we are doing our best to get you Sugarbird scones as fresh as we can. to your household.

If you live in California, we can ship frozen scones to you pretty economically next day or same day.

If you live outside of California, we are doing our best to get you frozen shipments to you as economical as possible. BUT, it costs you and us more since we ship with dry ice, scone beds to keep them cold and overnight shipping… Forgive us, until we can super-send scones via the ether, we use FEDEX.

Thank you for giving scones to shine out in the world. They really are the humble pastry, that shines so much fresh out of the oven! And it makes your house smell nice.

It makes our team so happy to hear how your scones turned out.

Mama Sugarbird

How to make your own clotted cream!

Warning here, it takes probably around 24 hours for the entire process but believe me it’s super worth it if you have the time. Well its 1/2 in oven and 1/2 in your fridge, so you won’t have to do much, ovens and fridges will make your magic cream for you.

The clotted cream I make here is the Devonshire Style way of making clotted cream. Turning cream into caramelized jewels to slather on your freshly baked scones or english muffin or toast with jam. You can add them to your mashed potatoes, oatmeal in the morning and use the excess into your tea or coffee in the mornings! So eco-friendly and enhances your scone experience!

Got time on your hands? This is definitely worthwhile to take your scone experience to the next level! Making your own clotted cream is super easy and o...
